Here is my first vintage styled P.C. WARNING: I know that this
may bore some but I am going to start with what's powering this beast (if you skip ahead Nobody will know). It's powered by an Intel ITX mother board with a 1.6 GHz dual core Atom CPU. Not the fastest CPU but it runs very cool and has enough power to get on the Internet and watch videos. It has 1 gigabyte of DDR2 memory and a 40 gig hard drive. The power supply is a pico ATX 12 volt power supply that provides 150 watts which is more than enough for this project. This may not be the hottest computer out there but it was very cheap.
Alright, now that everyone is back with us lets go over the case. I started with a wooden unfinished box that I bought on clearance at Micheal's. O.K. you can say it, I'm cheap, but I bet many of you are too. Then after a little cutting and sanding it was still an empty ugly box. "Paper, yes paper is what this box
needs" said my wife. I said "what?" and the meaning behind this simple question is "Are you crazy honey? This is a computer not a scrapbook page!" Unfortunately We have been married long enough that she heard the skepticism in my response and knew that she had to break it down for me to understand. Paper is cut and laid on the wood and pasted in place using a product called Mod Podge. I know you're probably skeptical too but it works very well. It is a glue for the paper and a finish for the completed project. After finding the best looking vintage paper I could find I was getting very excited about this project.
I found paper made by Graphic45 from the Communique collection, and embellishments made by Tim Holtz. For those of you geeks out there, you probably won't know what these things are but that is what google was made for. My daughter helped me put it all together and now I have a vintage looking computer that is the envy of......well, all my wife's friends seem to like it and my wife is proud enough to show it off so it must be O.K.

Getting started

There are so many great ideas out there for computers it can be overwhelming to start something new and experiment. That is what this blog is all about, taking your ideas and turning them into something real. I would also like to show off some projects from myself and others. It is my hope that this will be a great place for you to get ideas for your project.
